With now a decade of experience in education, Mr. Steven Stefanick was named Superintendent of Harding Independence Charter District in May 2021.

Stefanick began his career in education as a secondary mathematics instructor at Norman High School in 2011 - 2012 and later moved to Harding Charter Preparatory High School serving as a secondary mathematics instructor from 2012 - 2015, ending with a 100% pass rate on the Oklahoma End of Instruction exams.  During those years, he also served as the Mathematics Department Chair, Head Cross Country Coach & Assistant Tennis Coach, and Student Council Advisor.  As a student council advisor, he lead a group of students to fundraise over $20,000.00 to local charities (Oklahoma Make-A-Wish Foundation and Anna’s House) yearly, marking the highest average in school history.  Starting in 2015, Stefanick was a school administrator at Harding Charter Preparatory High School serving as the assistant principal, child nutrition director, and testing coordinator.  A proud graduate of the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Mr. Stefanick went on to earn his master's degree in educational leadership from the University of Central Oklahoma.  This year marks his eleventh year in education and eigth in administration.

Mr. Stefanick is highly respected by his peers and was named a 2016 Next Gen. Under 30 in Oklahoma and part of Leadership Oklahoma City, with leadership awards earned by School Choice Matters.  His knowledge and expertise in regards to Oklahoma charter school operations is recognized at the local and state level, where he serves as the current President of the Oklahoma Public Charter School Association, a former education advisory chair for Senator George Young, a former member on the Oklahoma Superintendent cabinet, and a former member of the Youth Professional Council for Oklahoma Make-A-Wish.
